budwyse is built on one principle: your financial data is yours. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and what control you have over it. We have written it to be readable, not to bury you in legal language.
1. Who We Are
budwyse is an independently operated personal finance application. The service is provided under the trading name budwyse.
This service is operated independently and is not tied to a specific registered legal jurisdiction at this time. We are committed to respecting your privacy regardless of where you are located. We aim to comply with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and apply the same data protection standards to all users globally.

Information you give us directly
- Your email address, used to create and secure your account
- Your income amount, entered when you log a budwyse
- Budget splits and category names you set up
- Expenses you log manually within the app
- Subscription entries you add to the tracker
Information from your bank (if you connect one)
If you choose to connect a bank account, we receive transaction data through a secure open banking connection. This includes transaction amounts, dates, and merchant descriptions. We do not receive your bank credentials, your PIN, or your card number at any point. We only receive read-only transaction data.
This data is stored locally on your device by default. If you create a budwyse account, it may also be synced to our secure cloud servers so you can access it across devices.
Information collected automatically
When you use the app, we may collect basic technical information such as your device type, operating system version, and app version. This is used to fix bugs and improve compatibility. We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics at this time.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To operate the app and provide the budgeting features you use
- To send you account-related emails, such as email verification and password reset
- To deliver notifications you have enabled, such as budget alerts and budwyse reminders
- To improve the app based on how it is used in aggregate
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your financial data with third parties for any purpose other than operating the services listed below.
4. Third-Party Services
budwyse uses a small number of trusted third-party services to operate. Each is listed here along with what data they handle.
Supabase
We use Supabase to store account data and sync your budget information across devices if you are signed in. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Supabase privacy policy.
Resend
We use Resend to send transactional emails such as account verification and welcome messages. Resend receives your email address for the purpose of delivering these messages only. Resend privacy policy.
RevenueCat
If you subscribe to budwyse Premium, your purchase is processed through Google Play or the Apple App Store. RevenueCat is used to manage subscription status and verify entitlements. RevenueCat does not handle payment card data directly. RevenueCat privacy policy.
Mono (Bank Connection)
If you connect your bank account, we use Mono to facilitate the open banking connection. Mono handles the bank authentication on your behalf. We never see your bank login credentials. Mono's service is read-only. Mono privacy policy.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your budget data is stored locally on your device using encrypted storage. We do not require you to create an account to use the core features of the app.
If you create an account, your data is also synced to Supabase servers. All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS. We use biometric authentication and PIN protection to prevent unauthorised access to the app on your device.
We do not store your bank credentials. We do not store your payment card details. We do not store your government ID or any form of identity document.
6. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data will be permanently deleted within 30 days of the deletion request. Local data stored on your device is removed when you uninstall the app.
We may retain anonymised, non-identifiable aggregate data for product improvement purposes after account deletion.
7. Your Rights
Regardless of where you are located, you have the following rights with respect to your data:
- The right to access the data we hold about you
- The right to correct inaccurate data
- The right to request deletion of your data
- The right to export your data in a portable format (available via Settings in the app)
- The right to withdraw consent at any time

budwyse is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will remove the account promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notification before the changes take effect. The date at the top of this document shows when it was last updated.
